Welcome to our unique self-guided biking adventure from Florence into the most authentic side of Tuscany!

After a briefing and introduction on how to follow our itinerary and how the bikes work, you will quickly get out of Florence through small countryside alleys, reaching the Chianti Classico wine region of Tuscany.

You will get unique views of Florence from the noble Florentine Hills, where a lot of Villas and farms enrich the lush landscape.

Going at your pace, you will have the chance to stop by an ancient monastery from the 14th century, the Certosa of Florence, nearby the local Galluzzo village.

Then you’ll start riding towards the Chianti Classico area, with rows of vineyards and olive groves stretching as far as the eye can see, basking in the warm Tuscan sun.

Along the route, we planned a lunch stop (not included in the cost) at an amazing farm that is also a restaurant (actually, the most ancient restaurant in Tuscany, dating back to the 15th century), where you can choose to have a picnic in the vineyard, or a traditional panino bursting with fresh local products, or indulge in a lunch in the fancy restaurant of the farm.

In the same ancient hamlet, the legendary Renaissance philosopher Machiavelli once lived. Immerse yourself in the ambiance of centuries past as you dine in the very place where Machiavelli pondered the intricacies of power and politics during his exile from Florence. You’ll also have the chance to visit the Machiavelli Museum and see the incredible and perfectly preserved underground cellars!

On your way back to Florence, you can choose between a longer itinerary to get to the town of San Casciano and get more countryside views and astonishing landscapes, or ride back on an easier route, and optionally also add a stop to Michelangelo Square and San Miniato al Monte for the best view over Florence!

This self-guided tour promises an unforgettable journey through the treasures of Tuscany.

Thanks to our 30+ years of experience of running bike tours every day in the countryside of this beautiful region, we’ll share with you our knowledge of Tuscany and Chianti to let you enjoy a very special adventure!

You will navigate our great itinerary using your phone – you won’t need an internet connection as it’s an offline map!

We will provide you with the right bikes or E-bikes for you, helmets, branded water bottles, some basic tools (remember to bring at least a fully charged phone and charger/power bank). E-bikes are stronly suggested unless you are used to biking on hills and don’t mind a good workout!
