A day riding to see the best of Florence and Tuscany
Would you love to have a bike tour that will take you from the hidden walls and tiniest roads of Florence to the gorgeous countryside of Tuscany, while tasting traditional food and locally produced wines and olive oil?
Then look no further, our Classic Tuscany tour is the ultimate experience for you: in just 6 hours you will have the best introduction to what Tuscany has to offer.
Our friendly staff will greet you at our office in central Florence, in the quieter and more traditional Oltrarno area of the city.
Your guide will help you pick your bike and helmet. You will then have a brief training session for safety and an introduction to the itinerary for the day.
The first part of the bike ride lasts about 1.5 hours, and it includes some uphill sections, so get ready for a bit of calorie-burning! There will be some nice panoramic stops to take some photos and learn about local life and nature from our knowledgeable guide in the Bellosguardo area of Florence, where the most exclusive Villas are located.
Also, you will enjoy great views over the city of Florence, especially when our guide will take you to the amazing viewpoint of San Miniato al Monte (close to Piazzale Michelangelo, but less crowded!).
Venturing into the Tuscan countryside, we will visit some local villages like Galluzzo (where you might see the local food market), Pian dei Giullari (where Galileo used to live!), and Arcetri.
After another bit of biking, we will reach a magical place in the Florentine hills for a tour of the property and a light Tuscan lunch with a tasting of self-produced extra virgin olive oil!
The place you will visit used to be an ancient literary café, a place where people could get together and talk to each other in a historical period in Italy in the late 1800s.
We will visit the beautiful fields to learn about natural olive oil harvest and making, as this farm still honors the ancient method of handpicking olives. We will take in the scent of nature in their Vegetable Garden and Nursery.
We will then be more than ready for a typical Tuscan lunch paired with a tasting of olive oil and a glass of Chianti wine!
After lunch, we jump back on our bikes and start riding again to get back to Florence!
This will be a great day to spend away from the crowds and noise of the city, learn about local life and farming, and have some great fun with our trusted guides!
This experience will take around 6 hours, so you will have still the afternoon to arrange for other activities!
