Chianti Forest Hike and Fiesole | My experience
We’d like to fill you in on what our intern Silke thought was special about this tour …
Hello again!
This is my second blog post as an intern here at We Like Tuscany and this time I would be more than happy to talk about some of the tours I got to go on!
Apart from a handful of scouting trips, where we look for wine and food partners to collaborate within Tuscany, I got to go on four of We Like Tuscany’s tours as well.
The first one I’ll be talking about is the “Chianti Forest Hike and Fiesole”. We waited for our guests at our office in Via Romana and hopped in the van for a scenic drive to the picturesque city of Fiesole. If you’ve been loving spying on Florence from above (I’m thinking about Piazzale Michelangelo or la Basilica di San Miniato al Monte) and thought it couldn’t get any better, think again!
Fiesole is situated about 5 miles from the historical center of Florence and given that it’s higher as well, the climb rewards you with an astonishing panoramic view over all of Florence.
On top of that, we went hiking through the forest in search of wild (and edible!) asparagus and listened to our guide tell us all about the place where Leonardo da Vinci tested his flying machine. Spoiler alert: it didn’t go down as planned …
We ended the hike on a high note and tasted some of the best Chianti wine and olive oil in a typical Florentine osteria.
I’m looking forward to telling you more about three bike tours I went on as well soon!
Alla prossima!
