The Florentine Experience | Part I

Florence

My first blog post about my life as an intern for We Like Tuscany! (March 29, 2018)

Buongiorno! Today I’m halfway my internship here at We Like Tuscany in Florence so I figured it was high time to give you a little update on how I’m doing here.

I honestly think I could not have been luckier with my internship so excuse me if I sound a tad high on life (or let’s admit it: high on caffeine). From the first day, I felt like my colleagues valued my work here and they are genuinely interested in how I feel about life in Italy. We often have lunch or dinner together and even though I’m the only girl, I don’t feel like the odd one out at all.

During the first couple of weeks, my main task was promoting the city and our tours on social media. I publish posts on Facebook and Instagram and keep the website updated. Now that the weather is warming up I’m going on more scouting trips with my colleagues and tours with the clients as well.

I love to spend time outdoors to go on hikes and bike rides so no complaints here! The downside would be all the wine tastings I have to go to, the food babies I have to deal with, the endless rides along the rolling Tuscan hills with the sun blinding me … it’s a tough job but someone’s got to do it! 😉

Outside office hours there’s not a lot of time to get bored either. I spend a crazy amount of time walking and running around the city (mainly because I get lost with every new turn I take but ssstt, that’ll be our little secret) and I feel like not having a gelato after all those glute workouts would be an offense to this wonderful country.

I spend my evenings going to language exchanges, concerts, art expositions etc. and I’m looking forward to doing more of that in the next couple of weeks. On the weekends I often take a train to visit friends who live close by and this way I take advantage of seeing some more of Italy too.

I hope this has given you a better idea of what I’m up to and I’m looking forward to diving into the next part of this opportunity!

Alla prossima!
