Explore the ancient town of Pian dei Giullari, where Galileo used to live in exile. Enjoy amazing views over Florence from the rolling hills and have lunch at a farm’s restaurant to taste their amazing produce.

Come and enjoy an off-the-beaten-path experience on this original tour that will take you away from the typical sights of tourists and crowds!

We created this experience to really satisfy the need of travelers to see something different than the typical Florence sights, to immerse into the surrounding nature, views, and history that surrounds the city!

After meeting with your guide at our office in the Oltrarno area of Florence, you will start the walk to get out of town. You will get the chance to see some of the relevant sights of Florence like Pitty Palace, Galileo’s house, and the ancient city walls and Porta San Giorgio, a small and hidden away entrance to the city that opens up to the countryside!

Then we will see San Miniato al monte church, the oldest church of the Florence area, with an amazing hilltop view over the city.

After we’ll keep hiking through toward the ancient town of Pian dei Giullari, where we will see another Galileo’s residence, where he was exiled because of his groundbreaking theories.

The reward for all this walking will be a traditional Tuscan lunch in a countryside Bistrot which used to be an ancient literary café and that is also connected to a farm!

We will get to explore their fields and taste their amazing products!

Finally, we will walk downhill back to Florence, with some more breathtaking views over the Renaissance city.

Of course, expect to walk up some hills, we are in Tuscany! But everyone who has a good fitness level and wants to burn off some calories from all the pasta eating can do this hike!
